Quick Makeup - How to Get Glam in a Pinch

Updated: Dec 27, 2020

Can I tell you a secret... Even makeup artists don't always want to wear a full face of makeup. The truth is, most of us are looking for quick and easy makeup for everyday wear. Unfortunately, quicker does not always mean easier. Unless you're following the right tips, getting ready in a rush can be even more stressful. Below I'm sharing my top 5 quick makeup tips to get all of you looking glam and out the door in a pinch...

1. Always Prime Your Skin

Even if you have five minutes, do not skip using a primer. My favorite primer is the Hydro Grip Primer by Milk Makeup. It helps smooth your skin and ensures your makeup will be long lasting.

2. Use a CC Cream

For the base of you makeup, I recommend using a CC Cream. My go-to is Your Skin But Better CC+ by IT Cosmetics. A CC cream is lighter and softer than a foundation would be. Because the product is so airy, its much easier to apply and leaves very little room for error. Its also great for beginners!

Oily Skin? Try the CC+ Cream in Matte

Dry Skin? Try the CC+ Cream in Illumination

3. Spend the Most Time on Your Trouble Areas

I struggle with acne and eczema concerns. If my skin doesn't look great, I feel more self-conscious. For this reason, even when I'm in a rush, I always pay more attention to making my skin how I like it best. Areas like my eyes, don't mean as much to me. When I'm in a rush, I'll take my time to apply quality concealer (Shape Tape By Tarte, shade 20S Light Sand) and setting powder (Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder).

4. Keep Eyeshadow Simple

Eyeshadow is a really great step to skip all together or keep very very simple. If you like adding a bit of color, I recommend taking a simple swipe onto your ring finger and gently placing on your lid. Your ring finger is the flattest of your fingers and will apply eyeshadow evenly. My number one palette is Urban Decay's Naked Reloaded. The shades Bribe, Barely Baked, and Angel Fire are three of the best colors for this time-saving technique.

5. Select Neutral Colors

For quick makeup, its important to keep all colors very natural. These colors are much simpler to use and if there's a mess-up, they won't take long to fix. Save the bright lip and dark eyeliner for another time when you have more patience and wiggle room. A natural favorite lip color of mine is Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tillbury. Another more affordable selection is the Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon in shade Lead the Way or their Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick.

The most important thing to remember with quick makeup is to keep things simple. If you have 5 great products you trust, stick with those! Focus on the areas that mean the most to you and follow a neutral color palette. You'll be out the door in no time!
