Surprise Bachelorette Party - 80's Leotards, Barre Class, & More

Updated: May 11, 2021

Way back in October my amazing sister and Maid of Honor, Emily, began planning for the awesome event that would become my bachelorette party. I've never been big on surprises and frankly ask too many questions for anything to be kept a secret. My bridal squad was determined to keep this weekend a surprise and boy did they deliver...

Below are a few highlights from the best celebratory weekend yet. Use these ideas for your next girls weekend or a friend's bachelorette party. They definitely won't disappoint!

1. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - 80's Theme & Décor

I arrived at my sister's home to find her front door covered in neon crepe paper. I immediately thought, "oh boy, these ladies are definitely going full-out!" I opened the door to find my best friends dressed head-to-toe 80's workout gear. CAN YOU SAY EPIC?! Lucky for me, the ladies had a shiny silver leotard waiting with my name on it.

The entire group looked like a group of Madonna wanna-be's and so did my sister's house. Neon streamers, bright photo backdrop... Everything screamed 1980's and I loved every inch of it.

2. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" - Barre & Yoga Class

Once everyone arrived and got to know each other, it was time for the next stop - Zen & Pow Studio. The owner Stephanie put together a collection of bridal goodies - mimosas, wedding-themed bags, sweat bands, etc. One of my favorite details was a beautiful pink box with notecards. Stephanie instructed each lady to write their favorite memory with the bride on a notecard and hide it in the box for me to read later. She also had a Moka coffee waiting for me, which in itself could have made my entire night. ;)

After everyone ooo-ed and ahhh-ed over the set-up, we started our entirely 80's themed barre and yoga class. Jamming to the tune of 80's top hits, we attempted focusing on squats and getting a good workout in. With 14 ladies chatting and singing Whitney Houston, its a little hard to keep your 'game face' on, but it's also totally fun.

3. "I've Had the Time of My Life" - Girl Time & Bonding

After our workout class and some MUCH needed Panera dinner (my favorite) we headed home to dress up and play a few games. The ladies each brought full black outfits and looked AMAZING, if I do say so myself. We spent the next few hours playing Bridal Jeopardy, 'How Well Do You Know the Bride?', and enjoying girl time. I became a complete softy and teared up listening to each friend share why they think I'll make a good wife.

We finished the night celebrating downtown and dancing the night away. Everyone spent the night together just like college. The next morning we made breakfast and spent the morning chatting before everyone headed home. Looking at the room full of amazing women, I couldn't help but feel so thankful to have each of them in my life. I know event this successful doesn't just happen without some pretty amazing people behind it. I am so thankful for each of these women and to have them here to help celebrate!
