Wedding Countdown! 3 Weeks - Bridal Beauty Prep

Updated: May 13, 2021

What a week! The past seven days have been a bit hectic. While I wish it wasn't true, writing this blog post fell far on my list of priorities. BUT we are officially back for another wedding countdown. This week's topic is one I am very excited about - bridal beauty!

Being a makeup artist for special occasions is one of my greatest passions. Many of my clients come to me a few months before their wedding with questions about bridal beauty prep. I get alllll types of question about the best foundation, which lipstick will last, if they should get false lashes, etc. You name it, I've been asked about it.

My recommendation for these ladies is always the same. Start by testing multiple products, but only a few at a time. Give yourself plenty of wiggle room before the wedding to make your final decision. With my own bridal look, I've decided to do just that. The past few months I've been testing new products and thought I would share my experience with all of you.

The first beauty products I began testing are from Charlotte Tilbury's makeup line. I have wanted to try her products for years and decided to splurge on the items at the top of my "wish list." My top favorites were the Airbrush Flawless Foundation (in shade 5 warm) and the lipstick and lip liner set in shade Pillowtalk. Both were great purchases that I am 99% sure will be included on my wedding day look. I also purchased the Cheek to Chic in the color Ecstasy. Sadly, the color pigment of this product fell flat for me. It will be nice for regular wear, but not for a special occasion.

The next product I tested was the Ambient Lighting Bronzer by Hourglass. I have heard so many YouTubers and bloggers rave about this product, so I was very excited to get my hands on it. Unfortunately, it didn't impress me as much as I had hoped. It is a beautiful shade; however, it adds an extreme amount of glitter everywhere its applied. I still enjoy the look of the bronzer and the smoothness it provides, but I will keep it for other occasions, rather than for my wedding day.

The last products I tried were absolute hits! I am totally in love with the Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow from Stila. This product is stunning and is the perfect addition for a bridal makeup look. I can't wait to purchase more colors to use on my clients as well as myself! The same goes for the All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray from Urban Decay. I'm very excited to start using these both!

Aside from trying new makeup, I've also taken the week to get eyelash extensions put back on. I first had these applied last September for our engagement shoot, and again in March for my bridal shower. I've gone to Evolve Beauty Studio in Onalaska every time and they've always been fantastic. This past visit, I had Ashley who did an amazing job! I highly recommend eyelash extensions for an easy, put together look.

I can't wait to share my official wedding day look in just a few weeks! Stay tuned for a blog post about the final look I choose.

3 weeks to go...

XOXO,

Sarah
