What's In My Makeup Bag? MUA's Personal Kit

Updated: Apr 11

I'm sharing what's in my personal makeup kit by request from one of you! Shoutout to Kristen for asking on last week's "Random Wednesday" Instagram Q&A. You can easily shop through the links I've included. Let me know what items you decide to test for yourself!

PRIMER - My #1 primer I use both on myself and the majority of my clients. Milk's Hydro Grip Primer smooths skin and ensures my makeup lasts all day. Works great on most skin types.

FOUNDATION - I use IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream as foundation when I'm looking for more of a natural wear. I use this on countless clients as well. It's very buildable and feels comfortable on the skin. If I'm looking for a more full coverage wear, I reach for my Estee Lauder Double Wear. I wore this foundation on my wedding day. There is nothing quite like it!

CONCEALER - My absolute favorite concealer and the only one I use on myself is Tarte's Shape Tape. Cannot be beat!

POWDER - Maybelline Fit Me powder is my go-to. I have it in several shades and rotate them based on the season. I have combination skin and focus the powder mainly in my t-zone.

BRONZER - I use a combination of two bronzing products. I use Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer for contouring and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer for an all-over bronze. Hourglass has much more shimmer and Physicians Formula is matte. The combination of the two is the perfect medium glow.

BLUSH - I've finally narrowed down my blushes to two products. I fell in love with the natural glow of e.l.f.'s Monochromatic Multi Stick. I like to set it with the Amazonian Clay blush from Tarte to ensure it lasts all day.

HIGHLIGHTER - I use the Milani Stellar Lights Highlighter Palette as well as the Estate Baked Highlighter. Both are great highlighters that can also be used as eyeshadow. I go between using one or the other since they're both great products.

EYESHADOW - These palettes are perfect for the majority of makeup looks and can be used for natural or more dramatic eyeshadow. The Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-eyes palette is smooth, creamy, and pigmented. It's pricey, but oh so worth it! This is one of their best sellers. A little product goes a long way! The Wild Nothing Palette By ColourPop has become another favorite. This palette requires more product, but has multiple color options. Finally, I have a Stila Glitter & Glow in shade Kitten Karma. I add a dab of this to the center of my eyelid for extra sparkle on special occasions.

MASCARA AND EYELINER - I love to use e.l.f. Cosmetic's Liquid Eyeliner to define and dramatize my eyes. I then apply L'Oreal's Voluminous Lash Paradise Primer and apply L'Oreal's Lash Paradise Mascara.

SETTING SPRAY - Urban Decay's All Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray is the only one I use on myself as well as clients. It's amazing!

EYEBROW PENCIL - I'll typically apply a light layer of Benefit's Precisely My Brow Pencil and ensure I brush my brows up and out. I have also used and really liked the Brow Chow by Addison Rae from my Ipsy box subscription (click here for my referral link).

FALSE LASHES - If I do wear false lashes for a special event, my go-to pair is 420 from Ardell. They are so comfortable and give the perfect extra touch without looking fake.

LIPS - It's so hard to narrow down my favorite lip product. Depending on the day, I'm usually wearing one of the following: Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon, Maybelline SuperStay Liquid Lipstick, Nars Powermatte Liquid Lip Pigment, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick, Chapstick Lip Moisturizer.

BRUSHES AND SPONGES - Eco Tools sells my absolute favorite brush and sponge sets. Here are a few of my favorites: Duo Eyeshadow Set, Define & Highlight Set, Perfecting Blender, Brush Set for Eyeshadow, Foundation, and Blush, Bio Blender

MAKEUP BAGS - I have quite a few makeup bags I rotate between. My blue bag shown below was recently purchase at Walmart for less than $15. I can't seem to find anything similar on their site or online, so I am linking a few other cute options. Relavel Travel Makeup Case, BagSmart Hanging Hook Toiletry Bag, Cinch Top Makeup Bag, Narwey Travel Makeup Bag

If you have any questions about what I use, please ask! I'm always happy to answer questions and give further recommendations. I can also offer advice custom to you during a one on one makeup lesson. Happy Shopping, everyone!
